We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Cabinet Maker who can take ownership of projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and space requirements for custom kitchen cabinetry.
- Collaborate on kitchen designs that are both functional and aesthetically aligned with customer expectations.
- Interpret sketches, technical drawings, or digital plans to develop detailed cabinetry layouts.
- Measure, cut, and shape various types of wood using saws, routers, planers, jointers, and sanders.
- Assemble kitchen cabinets, including frames and drawer boxes with dovetail joints.
- Install cabinets and hardware (hinges, catches, knobs, etc.) on-site as per customer specifications.
- Apply finishes such as paint, stain, and lacquer to cabinetry surfaces.
- Create custom cabinetry designs based on drawings or customer preferences.
- Cut patterns using templates and produce decorative edges with router bits.
- Apply edge banding to exposed cabinet components.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in cabinet making.
- Proficient in creating CAD drawings using Mozaik software, with experience in producing detailed shop drawings.
- Experienced in operating CNC and edge banding machines.
- Must have joinery skills and experience working with solid wood
- Proven ability to manage full cabinet-making projects independently.
- Comfortable working with hand tools and power tools with attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends if required by project timelines.
- Must hold New Zealand Citizenship, Residency or a valid work visa.

We want to hire 3 full-time C a binet Maker & Kitchen Installers at this stage. This is a permanent role. You are expected to work between 30-60 hours per week( falling on Monday-Sunday).
You will be paid at $ 6- 33 hourly( depending on your capability)
Work location: Canterbury Area
Your duties may include:
- Material calculation and plan checking: review the installation plan with the project manager to ensure that they have a clear understanding of the installation process and the materials required. Then accordingly construct and prepare components, parts and fittings.
- Making customized cabinets: studying drawings and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions and installation procedures; choosing proper materials and fittings as requested by the clients; cutting materials, and assembling and nailing cut and shaped parts
- Assembling cabinets: assemble different components of cabinets, such as drawers, shelves, and doors. Use hand tools, such as hammers, screwdrivers, and wrenches, to put the pieces together. Fitting hinges, locks, catches, drawers, shelves and other associated hardware
- Preparing the installation site: prepare the installation site by removing old cabinets, appliances, and fixtures, as well as ensuring that the space is clean and ready for installation.
- Installing cabinets and fixtures: install cabinets, countertops, and other fixtures in accordance with the installation plan. This may involve measuring and cutting materials, securing them in place, and making any necessary adjustments on site. And connect appliances, such as refrigerators, stoves, and dishwashers, to ensure that they are properly installed and functioning.
- Finishing work: apply finishing touches to the installation, such as adding trim or caulking, to ensure that the final product meets quality standards.
- Quality control: inspect finished cabinets to ensure that the required quality standards is met. This may involve checking for defects, ensuring that all components are properly aligned, and making any necessary adjustments or repairs by cutting/nailing materials.
- Cleaning and maintenance: Clean and maintain work area and tools. This may involve sweeping floors, cleaning tools and equipment, and performing routine maintenance tasks on machinery and tools
We will provide on-the-job training.
Job Requirements:
At least 2 years' joinery or carpentary or furniture making/design work experience;
And
Hardworking and be able to work for long hours in busy seasons.
Strong commitment to safe work practices.
No Criminal Records.
We may include Drug Test terms in the employment.

Key Responsibilities:
Cabinet Making / Workshop Duties:
● Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand project requirements.
● Select, measure, and cut materials (MDF, particle board, plywood, veneers, and solid timber) with precision.
● Operate a full range of woodworking machinery, including panel saws, table saws, edge banders, CNC routers, and handheld power tools, safely and efficiently.
● Assemble cabinet carcasses, drawers, and doors using various joinery techniques.
● Install hardware such as hinges, drawer slides, handles, and other fittings.
● Perform quality control checks at all stages of production to ensure products meet our high standards.
● Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment in the workshop.
● Follow company and site Health & Safety protocols at all times.
Installation / On-site Duties:
● Safely load, transport, and unload cabinetry and materials to client sites.
● Prepare installation areas to ensure a clean and protected workspace in clients homes.
● Install custom cabinetry with precision, ensuring everything is plumb, level, and securely fastened.
● Scribe and fit cabinets, panels, and fillers to uneven walls and floors for a seamless finish.
● Install benchtops, kickplates, and handles as required.
● Collaborate with other tradespeople on-site (e.g., plumbers, electricians) to ensure a smooth project flow.
● Maintain clear and professional communication with clients throughout the installation process, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
● Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the installation process.
● Ensure the work site is left clean and tidy upon completion of the job.
Skills and Qualifications:
● At least three years of relevant experience.
● A full driver’s licence as use of company vehicle is essential for operations
● A relevant trade qualification (e.g., National Certificate in Cabinet Making or Joinery) is preferred but not required.
● Experience with CNC machinery operation and programming is preferred but not required.
● Experience in installing a variety of benchtops (laminate, engineered stone, etc.) is preferred but notrequired.
● A current Site Safe passport and/or First Aid certificate would be an advantage.
What we Offer
● A competitive hourly wage, commensurate with your experience and skills, between $35 and $40 per hour.
● Permanent full-time role at 40 hours minimum to 45 hours per week maximum worked from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday
● Occasional overtime work paid at time and a half for each hour over 45 hours.
● Use of a company vehicle for site work.
