About The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team based in East Tamaki, Auckland. Reporting to the Financial Accountant, this role plays a key part in supporting month-end processes, maintaining the fixed asset register, preparing reconciliations, and assisting with GST returns. You’ll also provide master data support and collaborate across finance functions including Accounts Payable and Receivable.

What You Own And Deliver
- Assist with month-end closing, including expense accruals, bank reconciliations, and depreciation processing.
- Prepare and follow up on balance sheet reconciliations for the Group and follow up outstanding items
- Daily bank reconciliations and processing of related journals, any missed or unprocessed AP/AR items are communicated with the team.
- Review payment batches processed by AP team for supplier/GST/Tax/Sundry payments and ensure compliance with delegation authority.
- Assist the Financial Accountant to process and file the monthly indirect taxes to IRD and the ATO on behalf of the Vitaco Group.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Support GST return preparation and filing for NZ and AU entities.
- Contribute to master data management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Uphold Vitaco’s Vision and Values in all activities.
- Degree qualified in Accounting.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a medium/large commercial environment.
- Exposure to general accounting tasks, ideally within FMCG.
- Progress toward CA/CPA qualification is preferred.
- Great attention to detail and accuracy

- Team player who works at pace.
- Strong Excel skills and exposure to Navision or other ERP system will constitute an advantage

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Accountant with advanced Excel to join this large and very busy organisation located in Grafton - car park provided.
This role will have an ASAP start until the end of January with possible extension.
The main purpose of this role will be to perform business support and accounting duties to support a Capital Projects team within a large healthcare organisation.
Duties include:
- Preparing and posting general ledger/project journals
- Assisting with the preparation and population of monthly reporting packages for projects and the programme as a whole
- Assisting with the preparation and population of monthly balance sheet reconciliations for capital WIP and retentions
- Ensuring reports are accurate, relevant, timely, with robust analysis, financial prudence and clear strategic intent
- Assisting with other financial tasks and project work as requested
- Providing backup and assistance to the Management Accountants
- Verifying and complete requisition requests with appropriate support documents within agreed timeframe
- Ensuring purchase orders are raised within budget limits and monitor projects commitment and spending to date
- Assist to resolve day to day financial issues
To be considered you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting and/or business
- Minimum 2 years experience in an assistant accountant in a medium to large organisation
- Membership of CAANZ (or equivalent) is desirable
- Experience in supporting large project finances in a large organisation
- Excellent MS Office skills and advanced Excel
- Oracle financials experience and advantage
- Excellent communication, verbal and written
- Deadline driven and good attention to detail
