Job Description
ABE Limited, based in Auckland, is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team. This is a permanent, full-time role with a minimum of 30 hours per week.
Pay rate: $32 – $38 per hour (commensurate with skills and experience).
Key Responsibilities
- Design, assemble, and install residential and commercial electrical circuit boards.
- Conduct testing, calibration, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults in electrical circuits, equipment, and components.
- Assist engineers with the modification and improvement of electrical designs.
- Maintain accurate records of testing, repairs, and system performance.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant safety standards and electrical codes.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- Hold a Diploma in Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or
- Have at least three years of relevant work experience in electrical engineering technology.
General Requirements
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.

About the Role

Opportunity Overview:

We're looking for a highly skilled Photonic Design Engineer to lead and contribute to the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of our photonics hardware and systems. In this role, you will act as a key technical leader, collaborating closely across Engineering, NPI, and customer-facing teams to ensure our products meet the highest standards of performance, quality, and manufacturability.
+ Lead and contribute to the design and development of advanced photonics hardware that meets performance, cost, and schedule goals.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, NPI, Sales & Marketing) to ensure product specifications align with customer needs and internal capabilities.
+ Conduct feasibility studies and participate in early-stage specification development with Technical Sales and senior engineering teams.
+ Analyse product performance data to identify and implement design and specification improvements that enhance reliability, usability, and calibration processes.
+ Develop calibration methods, tools, and training materials in collaboration with the NPI team to ensure scalable and repeatable manufacturing processes.
+ Create and execute Design Validation Plans to verify product performance throughout the development lifecycle.
+ Continuously improve validation and calibration processes through data analysis, simulation, and proactive problem-solving.
