Job Description
We are looking for a Civil Engineering Technician. This is a permanent full-time role, and you will need to work from Monday to Saturday (30 to 40 hours per week).
- Determine suitable construction methods, materials, and quality standards for civil and foundation projects.
- Draft and interpret engineering specifications, drawings, and construction procedures for ground and structural works.
- Organise and direct site labour, materials delivery, and plant/equipment use; coordinate on-site activities according to detailed programs.
- Conduct soil and rock sampling at varying depths; perform or oversee laboratory testing to evaluate soil strength, compressibility, and load-bearing capacity.
- Provide geotechnical input for safe loading design, excavation support, shoring systems, and foundation types.
- Monitor and assess design changes, estimating their impact on costs, resources, and timelines.
- Prepare and review cost estimates and assist with budget control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure that structural and geotechnical designs meet performance standards, including resistance to collapse, deflection, and vibration.
- Support site-based problem solving and technical decision-making during excavation, piling, and earthwork stages.
- Liaise with project managers, consultants, and contractors to ensure smooth delivery of foundation and civil components.
What you’ll bring
A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering
Extensive customer/client service experience
Experience in construction/Civil is preferred
It would be an advantage if you have NZ work experience

* Produce quality project outputs, ensuring scope changes are closely monitored and design work is adequately resourced, reviewed and programmed.
* Plan, programme, co-ordinate and write reports for specific projects.
* Prepare cost estimates for project design and construction.
* Prepare tender documents and specifications for projects.
**About you**
You will be an experienced Civil Engineer with a proven track record of successfully delivering stormwater, water and/or wastewater projects and working collaboratively with clients and colleagues across the country.
You'll be a confident communicator with an engineering tertiary qualification plus 10 or more years' experience, able to develop strong internal and external client relationships, carry out all aspects of project delivery and oversight of technical delivery, including client and stakeholder consultation and negotiation when required.
Your own self-management skills will be as important as your technical and project delivery ones. You will need to be able to prioritise workloads whilst maintaining strong and trusting working relationships with our clients' and colleague's both locally and across the broader Stantec business.

**Job Description**

We are looking for an accomplished Principal Civil Engineer ideally with proven experience in aviation projects and construction monitoring and design to join our dynamic and growing Transport team.
