Steinegg Cabinets is a small business in Nelson, BC. We produce and install custom millwork such as kitchens, vanities, closets and more. We have a modern shop with almost all common machines including a CNC router. We also get to make custom furniture sometimes. Keeping things interesting is high on our list. Having a variety of work keeps us sharp and gives us skills.

We are looking for an experienced Cabinet Maker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in woodworking and be able to create high-quality cabinets from start to finish. This includes measuring, cutting, sanding, assembling, and finishing the cabinets. The successful candidate will also have a keen eye for detail and be able to work with a variety of materials. We are looking for someone who is reliable, organized, and motivated to produce quality work.
Responsibilities:
- Measure and cut wood to specified sizes and shapes.
- Construct cabinets and furniture from wood, veneers, and laminates.
- Install hardware such as hinges, knobs, and pulls.
- Sand and finish pieces using hand tools and power tools.
- Assemble cabinets and furniture using glue, screws, nails, dowels, and other fasteners.
- Repair existing cabinets and furniture.
- Inspect finished pieces for quality assurance.
- Prepare for spray painting using sanding skill
- Support installations on site
- Operating woodworking machines such as: Table saw, jointer, planer, shaper, boring machine, edge bander and the CNC router
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $18.00-$30.00 per hour
- Profit sharing
- French not required
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Nelson, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Education:
- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

Key Responsibilities:
• Study drawings, plans and specifications to determine dimensions and materials required
• Select and work with materials such as timber, veneers, laminates, and hardware
• Operate woodworking machinery and hand tools to cut, shape and join wood and other materials
• Assemble parts to form sections of furniture and fittings, and reinforce joints using nails, screws or glue
• Fit hinges, drawers, handles, locks, and other hardware
• Install finished furniture and fittings on-site, including kitchens, wardrobes, shelving, counters, and bathroom vanities
• Inspect finished products for quality control, making necessary adjustments or repairs
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following health and safety procedures

- Proven ability to manage full cabinet-making projects independently.
- Comfortable working with hand tools and power tools with attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends if required by project timelines.
- Must hold New Zealand Citizenship, Residency or a valid work visa.

We are looking for Kitchen Cabinet makers who have excellent knowledge with cabinetry installation to join our small team.
The number of positions: 2
Working hours:Minimum 30 hours per week, Additional hours may be applied due to heavy workload till 49 hours per week.
Type of employment: Permanent full-time position, shifts from Tuesday to Saturday (sometimes 7 days) with hourly rate from $32.00 to $35.00 NZD depending on experience.
Location: Christchurch, Canterbury Region
Role
This role involves being out and about installing the cabinets (kitchen cabinets, wardrobe) that are sold to the customers in their newly built or renovated homes, providing great service from start to finish of a job.
Qualifications & Requirements
- At least 3 years of kitchen installing or cabinet-making working experience. OR a relevant diploma in carpentry may be alternative.
- Be flexible to changing & demanding work priorities as we always have multiple projects at any one time
- Be physically fit and be able to work well within a small team of dedicated people and have good communication skills
- Be able to work additional hours if required (to ensure deadlines are met) within the factory or with site work installations
