ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a proactive Site Engineer to oversee our Bay of Plenty site based construction activities, ensure project specifications are met and coordinate with various teams to deliver quality projects on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will be Taupo based or have the ability to relocate without assistance. They will hold strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.

ABOUT YOU

Reporting to the Construction Manager to support our Contracts Managers in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions you will hold:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum two years New Zealand experience as a Site Engineer for infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Be a self-starter with the ability to work without supervision.
  • Leads by example, is approachable and able to supervise, mentor and support others.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management software.

**Job Description**

AECOM's dynamic Water group in Auckland is growing and we are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior level Civil Engineer to join our Water Infrastructure team.
The Water Infrastructure group provides services to a range of internal and external clients on projects covering water and wastewater treatment, dams, asset management, major conveyance, industrial, civil infrastructure, and defence sectors, with a key focus on supporting sustainable outcomes for our clients and the communities they serve.

Our Auckland Water team are looking for a highly experienced and forward-thinking Principal Water Engineer /Water Design Specialist to lead the design and delivery of complex pressurised water distribution systems (Auckland location is preferred but Wellington-based candidates will be considered). In this role you will provide package leadership across all stages of project development-from early design phases (50%) through to detailed design (90%) and Issued for Construction (IFC) packages. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of water infrastructure, work in multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to sustainable resource management through innovative engineering solutions.
+ Oversee the preparation of detailed engineering designs, calculations, and hydraulic models, ensuring optimal system performance and efficiency alongside conducting and supervising site visits and assessments, offering expert technical support during construction phases.

About the Role
With a new branch opening and an internal promotion creating opportunity, we’re recruiting a Civil Site Engineer to join a highly capable and ambitious delivery team.

You'll lead boots-on-the-ground construction across energy infrastructure builds—from earthworks and trenching to concrete pads, cable ducts, and structural foundations. It’s a role with variety, autonomy, and real growth potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee site operations on energy projects (substations, power farms, HV trenching)

  • Manage civil crews, subcontractors, plant, and materials

  • Ensure all works meet H&S, quality, and program targets

  • Report site progress to the Contracts Manager

  • Mentor junior crew and contribute to a high-performing team culture

About You:

You will know how to run a tidy, productive site, and you’re confident delivering works that support critical energy infrastructure.

  • 2+ years' experience in civil construction/infrastructure

  • Proven site leadership—earthworks, in-situ or precast concrete, cable trenching

  • Comfortable reading plans, managing crews, and liaising with engineers

  • Strong commitment to H&S and a hands-on, lead-by-example style
