We’re on the lookout for a Driver Trainer to join this professional, fast paced and highly successful team. This is your chance to take the wheel in a role that blends hands-on driving, mentoring, and training responsibilities – all while helping them continue to deliver best-in-class service across Waikato.
About the Role
Reporting to the People & Safety Manager, the Driver Trainer is key to ensuring all drivers operate safely, professionally, and to the highest standards. You’ll lead new driver inductions, conduct on-road evaluations, coach best practices using modern fleet technology, and support ongoing driver development across the team.
You’ll also be involved in:
- Coaching conservative driving habits & best practice load securement
- Conducting pre-start check reviews and raising awareness on key areas of wear & tare
- Training staff on TMS systems, SOPs, and container forklift use
- Supporting the Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) culture onsite
- Performing post-incident assessments and offering improvement recommendations
Leading by example, you’ll be the go-to person for driver-related knowledge and safety excellence.
What We’re Looking For
Must-Haves:
- Full NZ Class 2–5 licences
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of vehicle compliance
- Proven ability to mentor and train drivers of all levels
- A safety-first mindset and strong communication skills
- Experience with load distribution and axle weight management
- Great time management, patience, and integrity
Bonus Points For:
- Experience using Scania Fleet, Volvo DynaFleet, NAVMAN, and/or TMS platforms
- Container forklift training experience
