This is a senior role, so we’d love you to show us your:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (as a minimum), with a specialization in power systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of network simulation software, (PSSE, PSCAD and DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – in particular, clear and unambiguous email and technical document writing.

Due to continued growth in the energy sector, we're expanding our team and looking for a **Senior Primary Engineer** to join our AECOM Energy team in Hamilton or Auckland. This is a key technical role supporting clients across the generation, industrial, and transmission & distribution sectors, working on medium and high-voltage (MV/HV) electrical design projects throughout New Zealand.

**Job Description**
Due to continued growth in the energy sector, we are expanding our Transmission & Distribution team and are seeking an additional Principal Primary Design Engineer to join our Auckland office.
**How you'll make a difference**
+ Support the delivery of transmission and distribution projects for public and private sector clients throughout NZ and Australia.
+ Act as Design Manager, Technical Lead or Lead Verifier on a range of projects.
+ Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders to develop innovative, practical engineering solutions while proactively managing client expectations and ensure timely project delivery.
+ Coach and mentor graduates and early-career professionals to strengthen technical capability and support professional development within the team.
**Qualifications**

**The qualities that help you thrive**
+ A bachelor's degree in electrical or power systems engineering (or equivalent).
+ A minimum of 10 years' experience in substation design, including HV underground cable and switchroom design, ideally within New Zealand.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build strong client relationships and deliver high quality outcomes within tight timeframes.
