Job Description
We are seeking 3 detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper s to join our team in Christchurch. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and evaluating records of financial transactions using account books and computerised accounting systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring our financial data is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and reconcile financial transactions in accounting software.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable.
- Prepare and process payroll, GST returns, and other tax filings.
- Monitor cash flow and produce regular financial reports.
- Maintain general ledgers and assist with budget preparation.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and regulatory bodies as required.
- Ensure compliance with New Zealand financial regulations and internal policies.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet one of the following criteria :
- Demonstrate two or more years of relevant Verifiable work experience , supported by documentation not written by the applicant (e.g. references, contracts, payslips, or letters from previous employers, tax recoreds, bank statement).
OR
- Hold a relevant qualification at Level 4 or higher on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF )
Skills and Attributes
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero, MYOB, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Good understanding of New Zealand tax and payroll systems.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
