About the Role:

This is an opportunity for an experienced accountant who loves variety and thrives on using their numerical superpowers to help clients achieve or exceed their financial objectives and working with great people. As a Senior Accountant, you’ll bring your technical expertise to the table and play a key role in helping clients achieve their goals and mentoring our junior and intermediate accountants to enhance their skills and continue developing.

The team at RWCA proudly use leading edge technology and have the ability to provide solutions that are considered, creative and practical yet customised to their clients’ needs. They are looking for somebody who is equally driven to provide high quality work while having some fun at the same time. Depending on your level of expertise, this role may include:

• Actively engaging with our clients by telephone and in person
• Preparing financial statements and tax returns
• Preparation and filing of GST returns and other miscellaneous returns with IRD
• Monthly management reporting and cashflow forecasting
• Providing technical assistance and support to clients and colleagues

As somebody who will implement a pragmatic approach through your proven accounting skills, it is also important that you are confident in building relationships and having open conversations with all those you engage with. Additionally, you will enjoy working through things yourself but are equally happy to ask questions if you’re unsure of something. With your proactive nature, problem solving abilities and flair for working with numbers, you will aid in finding solutions to challenges and driving commercial success for those clients who may not be as financially minded.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience working in a Chartered Accountancy or Business Advisory firm
• An adeptness at preparing financial statements and tax returns in accordance with NZ Tax Law
• In-depth knowledge of best practice initiatives while keeping up to date on accounting legislation and developments
• Strong technical expertise
• Outstanding communication, presentation, and ownership skills
• Strong organisational, time management and problem-solving capabilities
• An analytical mindset with outstanding attention to detail and be motivated to achieve desired results
• The ability to work both autonomously and as a team member
• An understanding of working through IFRS would be beneficial, but for the right person we are happy to help develop this knowledge
