The Opportunity;
We’re looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our Morrinsville crew on a permanent basis!
Working on a variety of heavy vehicle brands including Volvo, MAN, Scania, BCI and Mitsubishi.
This role is a variety of proactive and active maintenance. Involving COF inspections and day-to-day maintenance and repairs on both diesel and petrol motors. As well as other fleet vehicles as appropriate.

Your Skills;
• NZQA L4 Heavy Automotive Qualification/ equivalent automotive workshop experience
• Current New Zealand Drivers’ License Class 1 (ideally up to C4)
• Reliable

• Physically capable of lifting up to 25kgs

What We’re Looking For

Job Description:

The primary purpose of this role is to perform unsupervised, a full range of mechanical duties on a wide range of specialized vacuum and sweeping trucks to meet specified job requirements and to ensure the fleet is kept operational to meet client needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain all aspects of a vehicle to relevant transport legislation and standards. This will include lubrication, greasing and oil changes, dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and checking parts
- Fabricate and design of parts as and when required
- Maintain all aspects of equipment to the suppliers' standard or better
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance services
- Perform fault diagnostics to detect mechanical and electrical faults by using instruments that check charging and starting circuitry, batteries, ignition and ignition timing, fuel injection systems and speed control, cylinder compression, engine condition, braking efficiency, and wheel balance and alignment
- Test drive and/or operate equipment to ensure repair has been completed correctly
- Ensure all hand tools and equipment are safe to use and stored correctly and in a clean condition
- Complete all records and paperwork accurately
- Demonstrate a responsible attitude in relation to time keeping, work organization and quality control.
- Maintain in good condition, any of the Company's equipment under the control of your work environment
- Available to attend out of hours break downs
- Look after Company equipment and assets to protect from damage and theft
- Committed to understanding stakeholder needs and exceeding expectations
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Maintain workstation and office to appropriate standards
- Schedule and facilitate policy and procedure reviews
- Support and adhere to Company's Safety policies and procedures
Skills and experience required:
- A minimum of 2 year's work experience in diesel mechanic or relevant occupation. Alternatively a level 4 or higher qualification in mechanical engineering or automotive engineering
- Preferred experience in specialized vacuum and sweeping trucks, including electrical skills with auto shutdown systems
- A strong background in mechanics with practical hands on experience
- Knowledge of comprehensive safety management systems including Hard Analysis
- Site Safe & First aid certificate preferred
- Full, Clean and current drivers license (Class 1)
- Class 2 - 4 Driver's license preferred

You will be expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday as normal hours of work, and you may also be required to perform on Saturday as well. Please note this is a permanent full-time role and the hourly pay rate would be $35.00-$40.00 based on experience and ability, as well as addition qualifications.

· Maintains, tests and repairs diesel engines and the mechanical parts of heavy motor vehicles such as transmissions, suspension, steering and brakes.

· Liaise with customers to provide updates and recommendations on vehicle condition and required repairs.
· Ensure all work is carried out to the highest safety and quality standards.
The right candidates must have
· Either have at least two years of relevant experience or NZQCF Level 4 qualification .
