Job Description
Air Conditioning Technician Required for a Well-Established Company in Queenstown who prides itself in carrying out work to a high standard and strives always to provide a quality service to its customers.
We have a permanent long-term vacancy available for an Air Conditioning Technician/Heat Pump Installer. We are looking for a reliable, highly motivated person to join a friendly team.
The work the companny undertakes scovers a variety of installations, as well as commissioning, repairs and maintenance, service contracts for domestic and commercial clients.
Work is always carried out to a high standard and the Technicians strive at all timesto provide a quality product and service.
You'll need:
- Background knowledge and experience in HVAC servicing, repairs, and installations
- A Trade Certificate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning would be beneficial
- 3 Years’ Relevant Work Experience
- Approved Handler/Filler Certificates an advantage
- Clean driver's licence
- A commitment to Health and Safety
- To complete all required documentation efficiently and quickly
Work Covers:
- Installation of split, ducted, cassette and multi systems.
- Pipe-fitting, welding, ductwork installation.
- Commissioning and Testing
- Service and Maintenance of commercial and domestic systems.
- Diagnosis and Repair of HVAC and Refrigeration Systems
The person we are looking for must:
- Be self-motivating, and able to work unsupervised. If on a limited licence, work unsupervised within the limits of your role.
- Be able to diagnose technically challenging situations using appropriate equipment.
- Exhibit a high level of quality in their workmanship.
- Have excellent communication skills both written and oral.
- Have a strong work ethic and willingness to cover any role when required (If on a limited licence, work unsupervised within the limits of your role)
- Have a professional and friendly approach to customers.
- Enjoy being part of a motivated team.
- Have the ability to train and mentor apprentices is an advantage.
Hours are generally Monday-Friday, minimum 35-40 hours per week. Competitive hourly rate will be based on experience plus benefits. Company work vehicle and phone are part of the employment package. Branded work uniform will be provided.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Automotive Air Conditioning Mechanic who is skilled in diagnosing, servicing, and repairing all kind of vehicle’s air conditioning systems. This is a full-time, permanent position that will allow you to utilize your expertise in automotive cooling systems while contributing to the success and growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair automotive air conditioning systems in a wide range of vehicles such as cars, trucks, tractors, agricultural Industrial machinery.
- Install and replace air conditioning components such as compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
- Regularly perform preventative maintenance and repairs to keep air conditioning systems in optimal condition.
- Communicate with customers to identify issues, explain repairs, and provide advice on maintaining air conditioning systems.
- Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with industry standards, environmental regulations, and health & safety requirements.
- Work on electrical and mechanical systems related to automotive air conditioning, including diagnosing refrigerant leaks and electrical failures.
- Keep accurate records of work completed, including parts used and time spent on jobs.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous 2-3 years of experience working as an Automotive Air Conditioning Mechanic or formal relevant Level 7 or higher qualification.
- Strong understanding of air conditioning systems, electrical circuits, and refrigerant handling.
- Relevant certifications such as refrigerant handling or automotive trade qualifications.
- Excellent diagnostic skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues.
- Strong focus on delivering high-quality workmanship with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively within a team while also being able to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills with a customer-first approach.
- A valid New Zealand driver’s license is required.
- Candidate must be ready to pass the alcohol and drug test at any time.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Technician with extensive skills in refrigeration and air conditioning to join our growing team. This role is crucial in supporting major installation, maintenance, and commissioning projects across various commercial sites. The ideal candidate will bring a hands-on approach and deep technical knowledge to lead complex installations and mentor junior technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service, and maintain a variety of HVAC systems, including chillers, cold rooms,
freezer rooms, BMS controls, and comfort cooling units. - Supervise on-site teams and manage the execution of HVAC projects to completion.
- Commission systems including Clivet, Trane, Carrier, Daikin, and other commercial
brands. - Liaise with clients to ensure clear communication, project satisfaction, and technical
support. - Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company quality standards.
Skills & Experience Required
- We are looking for that person who has sufficient experience to hit the ground running with assignments that require total self-sufficiency - the ability to hit the ground running.
- Hands-on experience with major international HVAC systems including Clivet, Trane,
Carrier, Daikin, and Hitachi - minimum 3 years. - Strong knowledge of commissioning, diagnostics, control systems.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and leadership abilities.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed for projects.
Desirable (but not essential):
- Trade-qualified Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician (or equivalent
international qualification). - Previous experience in training/mentoring other technicians.
- Familiarity with NZ HVAC Codes & Standards.
- Certification in refrigerant handling or health & safety
Minimum guaranteed hours 30 hrs with normal working hours 40 per week.
