About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to grow your career as a Line Mechanic within our team working across Taranaki, based out of our New Plymouth depot. You will be responsible for the provision of quality service and workmanship in the areas of construction, maintenance and fault diagnosis/rectification of all network equipment and installations.

It is essential that you are an experienced Line Mechanic with knowledge of the power industry and can offer the following:
- Relevant EWRB Line Mechanic Registration and current practising licence
- Current Class 1 full Drivers Licence, ability to drive a manual vehicle and ideally a Heavy Traffic Licence is desirable.
- Sound knowledge of the Safety Manual Electricity Industry (SMEI) and Safe practices for Low low-voltage electrical Work
- A minimum of two years' experience including high voltage and overhead work is desirable.
As a highly skilled Line Mechanic your previous experience will demonstrate your technical ability with a broad range of work, a commitment to producing a quality job every time and taking pride in your results. You'll also be a strong communicator and a positive team member also able to work alone.

Job Description
The Top Energy Group operates throughout the Far North, delivering geothermal electricity generation and electricity network operations. Our purpose is to provide affordable and sustainable energy for Far North consumers, which we are achieving by transforming the Top Energy Group into a technology-enabled energy company that generates and facilitates two-way energy flow between renewable energy generators and consumers.
We are currently seeking a Works Coordinator to liaise with customers and electricians for Customer Initiated Works (CIW), new connections, and assist with the planning of CIW works and team management. Install, maintain and repair HV and LV electrical distribution lines and associated equipment, including the provision of emergency repairs and out of hours fault rectification.
This position reports to the Construction Supervisor and is based at our Kaitaia Depot.
Key areas of focus will be:
- Customer Initiated Works projects-applying for shut down requests, monitoring costs, checking and completing paperwork, close out job packs
- Plan and schedule work in conjunction with depot supervisor
- Providing switching application processing and approval services to approved Contractors
- Maintaining and overhauling distribution lines and equipment
- Network fault identification and rectification
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, work procedures and practices
- Participation in a 24-hour 7 day a week shift roster
To succeed in this role, you will hold a current Practising Licence as an EWRB Registered Line Mechanic, with a thorough understanding of line construction methods, both underground and overhead, and have a comprehensive knowledge of electrical practices. It is essential that you hold a full NZ Driver Licence (an HT Licence would be an added advantage), have no colour blindness and be a competent Hiab Operator and Overhead Switching Operator.
