Mental Health Nurse Auckland, New Zealand
Salary: NZD $81,683 $06,739 per annum
Relocation stipend available: amount evaluated on case-by-case basis

Purpose of the Position
We are seeking a dedicated and culturally responsive Registered Mental Health Nurse to join a multidisciplinary mental health and addictions team based in Auckland, New Zealand . In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care for tangata whaiora and their whānau , working collaboratively with health professionals and external agencies. Care provided is grounded in the Mental Health and Addictions scope of practice and aligned with Nursing Council of New Zealand competencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain therapeutic relationships with tangata whaiora and whānau.
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including risk and mental state evaluations.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to create, implement, and evaluate individual care plans.
- Deliver evidence-based clinical interventions such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and sensory modulation (as trained).

Document care planning and progress accurately and professionally.
- Act as a key point of contact and care coordinator for tangata whaiora and their support networks.
- Promote mental health awareness, wellness, and recovery both individually and within the community.
- Support preceptorship, student placements, and contribute to peer supervision.
- Uphold principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi , cultural safety, and health equity in all aspects of care.
Requirements

Registered Nurse with current New Zealand Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) under the Mental Health scope.

Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences (Mental Health & Addictions), or working towards this.

At least 1 year of post-registration experience in a mental health setting.

Commitment to reflective practice, cultural competence, and continuous professional development.

Strong clinical documentation, care coordination, and communication skills.

A collaborative and accountable approach to practice.

We are currently recruiting for Mental Health Support Workers/Rehabilitation Coaches to work with our Mental Health/Traumatic Brain Injury clients at our West and South Auckland facilities.
We are The Goodwood Park Healthcare Group, a well established, innovative and leading provider of community and residential services for people who have a Mental Health Illness or Traumatic Brain Injury. We constantly strive to ensure our clients are receiving services that are of the highest quality and promote better health and wellbeing.
We have full time (40 hours per week) positions available across all seven days of the week. There are a variety of different shifts available, both morning and afternoon, so there is quite alot of flexibility in work hours if you desire. These roles are available at our Kumeu, Ranui, Kelston sites in West Auckland and our Ramarama site in South Auckland.
About the role:
As a Mental Health Support Worker/Rehabilitation Coach you will work with our clients to provide support and encouragement as they go about their daily tasks. You will be responsible for maintaining their safety and providing guidance whilst joining them on various outings and participating in daily activities. You will help them achieve their goals as per their plans.
You will help to foster hope, identify strengths and develop resilience recognising that these are key components of the approach to leading a more positive and independent life.
The overall purpose of this role is to achieve maximised level of independence for our clients whilst providing a positive and safe living environment.
What you will need:
- Team oriented and be a great communicator
- A full New Zealand driver licence, or an International driver licence which you will convert to a New Zealand driver licence as soon as you are reasonably able to do so
- Proficient computer literacy - Microsoft suite
- NZ residency/valid NZ work visa
- A sense of humour
- Compassionate, caring, patient
- Common sense, problem solving ability
- Able to remain calm in challenging situations.
