Solutions Architect - Public Sector (AWS)

What You'll Do
Customer Obsession in Action
- Partner with public sector organizations to architect cloud solutions that modernize citizen services and government operations
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor, understanding customer challenges and translating business requirements into scalable AWS architectures
- Advocate for customers internally, ensuring their success drives our product and service evolution
Technical Leadership
- Design and implement highly available, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures across diverse government use cases
- Collaborate with AWS sales, business development, support, and product teams to accelerate customer adoption
- Provide technical guidance on performance optimization, security best practices, disaster recovery, and data architecture
Stakeholder Engagement
- Present to and influence senior government officials, IT leaders, and technical teams
- Build long-term relationships that establish AWS as the preferred cloud partner
- Share customer insights and requirements with AWS service teams to influence product roadmaps

Technical Expertise
- Proven experience architecting solutions across multiple platforms and technology domains
- Deep understanding of cloud architecture principles including security, networking, DevOps, and high availability
- Hands-on experience with performance optimization and system resilience
Customer-Centric Mindset
- Demonstrated ability to understand complex customer environments and translate needs into technical solutions
- Experience working with senior stakeholders in customer-facing roles
- Track record of building trust and becoming a go-to technical advisor

Key job responsibilities
- Own the technical engagement and ultimate success around specific business initiatives and projects. You should understand the wider industry, with experience and skill in how applications and services are delivered and consumed.
- Develop a deep expertise in AWS technologies.
- Consult on and provide leadership for the broad AWS cloud strategy in NZ public sector organisations. You will help customers articulate and navigate their cloud journey, and be accountable for ensuring tactical activities and point projects are align with the overall technical strategy.
- Own technical engagements, and help ensure a timely and successful delivery of value. This is not a hands-on delivery role; delivery is typically done by AWS consultants and partners.
- Exhibit leadership within a complex IT landscape and become the trusted adviser to different stakeholders in the customer's organisational hierarchy. Enable others to become cloud champions!
