About this role We are seeking a Technical Writer Contractor in our Health Safety & Wellbeing team based in Newmarket, Auckland until June 2026.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation that supports Watercare’s new digital solution and health and safety management system. You’ll work closely with subject matter experts, the Donesafe implementation project, and other business units to create policies, procedures, manuals, training materials, and more.
This is a hands-on role where your ability to simplify complex technical information into accessible content will directly support safe and effective ways of working across the organisation.
About you You are a detail-oriented writer who thrives on making complex information easy to understand. You bring both technical expertise and a user-focused mindset, with strong collaboration skills to work alongside a wide range of stakeholders.
Essential Skills And Experience - Proven experience as a Technical Writer or similar role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to quickly grasp complex concepts and explain them clearly
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency
- Proficiency with documentation tools such as Confluence, Lucid, or Microsoft Word
Desirable Skills And Experience - Background in HS&W, Digital, engineering, or related technical field
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies
- Experience writing for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Knowledge of HTML or SharePoint
- Experience with version control and content management systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Curiosity and eagerness to learn new tools and technologies
- Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced project environment
- A collaborative and user-centric approach to work
