This leadership role is a critical component of our business, driving continuous improvement and implementing processes to ensure we meet the requirements for overseas market access with a small compliance team.
We are seeking a highly motivated Compliance Manager to lead and strengthen our regulatory, quality assurance, and food safety programs across our meat processing and export operation. This is a critical leadership position ensuring that all aspects of our supply chain—from slaughter to export—meet stringent New Zealand and international regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to MPI regulations, animal welfare standards, export requirements, and internal policies etc.

Audit Management: Lead external and internal audits. Prepare sites and coordinate follow-up actions.

Policy Development: Maintain and continuously improve the Risk Management Programme and HACCP systems.

Training & Education: Provide regulatory and compliance training to operational staff and management teams.

Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with government agencies, certification bodies, industry groups, and clients to maintain compliance and certification status.

Reporting & Documentation: Oversee accurate reporting of compliance performance and non-conformance incidents, with robust corrective action plans.
Skills and Experience
-
Sound knowledge of technical and compliance requirements for a modern meat plant, either through a tertiary qualification or broad-based work experience of 2+ years in a similar role, or as a QA within the meat industry.

Strong knowledge of New Zealand food safety regulations, including HACCP principles and application.

Exceptional communication and organisational skills.

Ability to work across teams in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.

Experience liaising with regulatory agencies (e.g., MPI, AsureQuality).

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Food Science, Veterinary Science, Agriculture, or a related field are helpful, but not essential.
