**The Opportunity**
This position is responsible for the effective completion of mechanical Product Verification and Validation (PV&V) projects and engineering projects as required for new and present product designs.
It involves planning, coordinating, testing, analysis, and reporting for a complete project of moderate scope or for a significant portion or a sub-system of a major and diverse project.
The position operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews and may coordinate and review portions of the work to support personnel.
Decisions are made within established guidelines and will be reviewed by supervisors.
**What you will be responsible for**
+ Compiles and documents necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analysis) to document the optimum design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design.
+ Support and evaluates possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialised knowledge of engineering applications. This may include possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management, and/or supplier personnel.
+ Provide mechanical technical expertise for new and present product projects.
+ Assist in the development of specifications for complete new structural components and mechanical systems for forestry attachments with each of the key stakeholders.
+ Develops and/or executes test or analysis plans for PV&V of structure and mechanical systems.
+ Performs engineering calculations on critical components to ensure quality of design and reduce risk.
+ Confers with the Product Support Group, Field Service specialists and dealer personnel to resolve field issues related to in-field validation.
+ Provides technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality, and supply management organisations.
+ Follows the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP) and Continuous Improvement (CI) processes for NZ manufactured harvesting attachments.
+ Applies knowledge of company products, policies, and practices to provide economies through standardisation of parts and products.

+ Understanding of engineering principles, theory and practice and product knowledge as they relate to the company product - Performs more complex functions, understands principles, can independently use the knowledge, and may teach others.
+ Skill in using Computer Aided Design and/or alternate engineering analysis tools - Performs more complex functions, understands principles, and may teach others.
+ Skill in using company information systems and processes - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
+ Knowledge of the Enterprise Product Development Process (EPDP), Continuous Improvement (CI) and Customer Acquisitions Process (CAP) - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
+ Fundamental understanding of machine forms relevant to the specific job assignment and Company division/unit and knowledge/familiarity with machines manufactured by competitors - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
