Job Description:

Extrastaff, a Labour Hire Company, is hiring full-time Construction Technicians for deployment on infrastructure and commercial construction projects throughout New Zealand. Positions are full-time and permanent, with site location based on project demand

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Tasks required of you that is within your skills and capabilities that is necessary for the business of the company.
  • Comply with all aspects of any contract, project or task and deliver customer services that meets or exceed the expectation of the customer or the Extrastaff business.
  • Erect Scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
  • Creating structures, forms or chutes and pouring concrete.
  • Cover subfloors with building paper to keep out moisture and lay hardwood, parquet, or wood-strip-block floors by nailing floors to subfloor or cementing them to mastic or asphalt base.
  • Fill cracks or other defects in plaster or plasterboard and sand patch, using patching plaster, trowel, and sanding tool.
  • Position and secure steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms, using fasteners, rod-bending machines, blowtorches, or hand tools.
  • General labouring cleaning construction sites as required by managers
  • Loading and unloading building and construction materials, tools and equipment and transporting them around building sites.
  • All other duties as assigned.


 

Skills and experience required:

 

  • Some experience in construction industry is preferable, but not essential.
  • Friendly, with good time management, & excellent work ethic are essential

  • Sound knowledge of H&S procedures
  • Reliable and hardworking

Required experience and skills: 

  • A solid experience working within the NZ civil construction industry – we are looking at candidates capable of taking projects from tender development to handover, ideally with minimum of 5 years’ experience, typically with a value of $500K to $10M.

  • An in depth understanding of contractual facets of construction – especially NZ3910:2013, and change management.

  • A proven delivery record of leading multiple projects to successful outcomes.

  • Able to produce detailed reports on project performance.

  • Superb communication skills to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Hold a relevant tertiary education within civil industry/engineering.

  • Proficiency using MS Project or similar project management software. Create and/or contribute to the detailed construction programme. Monitor and update regularly.

  • Interpret and advise on job designs, value engineer where appropriate, project plans, and assist project controls, including budgeting, scheduling, planning and risk.

  • Develop workforce management plan, and plan for current and future work.

  • Ability to lead and direct Project/Site Engineers, on site operational teams and coordinate with the wider Management team.

  • Alignment of key results areas and KPI’s to meet company’s objectives and vision to deliver physical outcomes at scale and pace.

  • Working closely with the Operation Manager and the Contracts Manager to identify ideas to innovate and improve the delivery of the project.

**AIRCRAFT ENGINE WORKSHOP SUPPORT**
We are currently recruiting for a permanent position in the Cleaning Bay of our modern workshop. You will be a vital part of the maintenance and repair process, ensuring the engine parts are cleaned and treated to the highest standard. You will receive comprehensive training which builds on your previous knowledge and experience. In your daily work you will pay close attention to safety and quality, this includes for example daily inspections of your work area and equipment as well as following the specific H&S guidelines.
**WHAT YOU WILL DO**
+ After completing your induction training you will work at a designated workstation within our workshop.
+ Cleaning engine parts as per process under the instruction of Production Leaders and Lead Hands
+ Using our computer system to document and record your work
+ Ensuring that your work meets all health and safety requirements
**ABOUT YOU**
+ **Able to comply with a strong safety and quality culture**
+ **Able to work in processes and follow instructions**
+ **Have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy**
+ **Good communication skills and able to work in a team**
+ **Flexible mindset and willingness to learn and develop**
+ **Good computer literacy, such as MS Office**
+ **Must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand**
**HOURS OF WORK**
In this full-time position you will work in a fortnightly rotating shift pattern. Availability to work overtime (sometimes on short notice) is preferred. Overtime is compensated accordingly.
