AIRCRAFT TRADESPERSON

We are currently recruiting for qualified (Level 4) tradespeople with an Electrical / Electrician background who may have worked in the aviation, mechanical engineering, automotive, or similar sector for permanent full-time positions in our Repair team. This is perfect for someone who can work in defined processes, is quality and safety oriented, pays close attention to detail, and is willing to learn. You will receive a full training and comprehensive onboarding.

Your Role

  • After your first induction training you will go through a comprehensive hands-on training in the Electrical Harness section; while working closely with your Lead Hand completing any needed inspection, repair, testing, trouble shooting and overhaul of harnesses work.
  • Using our computer system (SAP & Solumina) to document and record your work.
  • Ensuring that your work meets all aviation regulations, standards and comply with all relevant tech data.
  • Ensuring that your work performed is in guidelines with regarding health and safety requirements.
  • This is a safety sensitive role, and all candidates will go through a medical assessment (color blindness + grip test) and drug & alcohol testing.

Your Profile

  • Be Trade Qualified – NZQA Level 4. Please provide a copy of your relevant qualifications, including NZQA equivalency for overseas qualifications
  • Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand
  • Have solid work experience in a similar environment, such as aviation, automotive, mechanical engineering or related.
  • Be experienced in working in processes and following instructions.
  • Strong hand skills
  • Good computer literacy
  • Have a high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and good organizational skills.
  • Be a confident, effective communicator and a strong team player.

HOURS OF WORK

In this full-time position you will work in a fortnightly rotating shift pattern. Availability to work overtime is appreciated and compensated accordingly.

Opportunity Overview:
At Quantifi Photonics, we are driving innovation in optical communication and high-speed signal integrity testing. We are currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer - High-Speed I/O to join our global team and play a critical role in the design, integration, and delivery of our advanced test equipment portfolio.
This is a senior technical leadership role that will own system architecture, requirements management, integration, and risk assessment across multidisciplinary hardware, firmware, and software teams. You will work closely with our Director of Technology and Business Development for High-Speed Portfolios while collaborating across Engineering, NPI, and Sales & Marketing functions to ensure our products meet both technical excellence and market demands.
+ Define and maintain top-level system architectures for high-speed electrical and optical signal integrity testing instruments.
+ Elicit, document, validate, and manage complex system requirements across hardware, firmware, and software teams.
+ Lead system integration activities, ensuring subsystem coherence, early issue detection, and reliable system-level performance.
+ Own system-level change control, configuration management, and impact assessments for multi-disciplinary updates.
+ Collaborate with leadership to align product strategies, prioritize features, and incorporate customer and market feedback into system design.
+ Identify and manage technical risks, conduct trade studies, and develop system-level mitigation plans.
+ Act as the technical liaison across hardware, software, NPI, and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless product delivery.
+ Periodic travel to Thailand to collaborate with our High-Speed Instrumentation Engineering team.

+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
+ Extensive experience in system design and integration for high-speed I/O systems.
+ Strong expertise in signal integrity, power integrity, and high-speed communication protocols (e.g., SERDES, PCIe, Ethernet, USB, optical interfaces).
+ Hands-on experience with system validation, integration testing, and troubleshooting complex systems.
+ Proficient in requirements management tools and change control processes.
+ Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical teams and work collaboratively across disciplines.
+ Willingness to travel internationally as required.
+ Experience with optical test & measurement equipment.
+ Previous experience as an FAE (Field Applications Engineer) or Product Line Manager for BERTs (Bit Error Rate Testers), Sampling Oscilloscopes, or similar instruments.
+ Experience in RF engineering and familiarity with state-of-the-art RF best practices.
+ Experience developing optical communication instruments.
+ Highly analytical with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
+ Structured, data-driven approach to decision-making.
+ Self-motivated with the ability to take full ownership of responsibilities.
+ Collaborative mindset with excellent cross-functional communication skills.
+ Respectful, professional, and willing to mentor junior team members.
