Role Overview :

As a Sprinkler Fitter, you will be responsible for installing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing fire sprinkler systems to ensure buildings comply with fire safety regulations. The role involves interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, measuring and cutting piping, fitting and joining pipes, testing systems, and performing maintenance to guarantee proper functionality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform fire sprinkler installations according to project instructions and specifications.
- Organize and prepare materials required for new installations.
- Monitor job progress to ensure work is carried out efficiently and on schedule.
- Oversee site Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) issues and attend site safety meetings as required.
- Prepare and process reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain proper records of site activities, ensuring all documentation is complete for efficient project delivery.
- Conduct system testing, complete Quality Assurance (QA) sign-offs, and ensure compliance with standards.
- Commission sprinkler systems and liaise with inspectors for final approval and certification.
- Track and measure project expenses to support cost control.
- Ensure all tasks are completed before practical completion and resolve outstanding snag lists for project handover.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the fire protection industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with relevant New Zealand fire standards.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- A clean driver’s licence.
- Sound knowledge of sprinkler standard NZS 4541:2013.
- Strong understanding of sprinkler installation practices and various sprinkler products.
- Skilled in record management and maintaining accurate documentation.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in all work outputs.
- Excellent communication skills with a professional attitude.
- New Zealand residency or a valid New Zealand work visa.
