Join our Ōtautahi tīma and take on the exciting challenge of leading Māori economic development and community resilience initiatives with Hapū, Iwi, and Māori organisations. We're seeking a passionate innovator ready to make a meaningful impact in our communities.

This is a 9-month fixed-term, full-time position based in our Ōtautahi tari/Christchurch office.

Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunity

As a Senior Advisor you will be the champion and promoter of the Te Puni Kōkiri investment strategy to enable better outcomes for Māori. This role involves building relationships with key stakeholders in the region, ensuring other agencies deliver effective services for Māori communities, managing investments to support Māori economic development, and providing regional insights to guide decision-making and policy creation. The role also involves:

  • Supporting the region to deliver on the work programme
  • Utilising and building upon your strong relationships in Ōtautahi with Ngāi Tahu and Ngā Maata waka communities
  • Supporting the Regional Director and Team Leader to build a strong presence for Te Puni Kōkiri in the region to support the implementation of Government policies
  • Providing mentoring and coaching to Advisors within the region

The likely appointment range is$104,056 to $15,617, based on skills and experience. The full grade for this role is 104,056 to 138,741 with a mid-point of 115,617.

You will have established and enduring relationships with the Ngāi Tahu and Ngā Maata waka communities, excellent relationship management skills, and value diverse perspectives. You will possess keen analytical skills, and the ability to identify and support economic development and community growth opportunities. To be the successful candidate you will be able to commute to our Ōtautahi office from Monday to Friday.

Ideally you will have Government grants, funding and/or contract management knowledge and experience. Business and finance acumen and experience would be advantageous as well.

You will also have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in a Kaupapa Māori environment
  • A high level of understanding of the machinery of Government, public service and public sector processes that ensure the impartiality of Public Servants
  • An understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti ō Waitangi and recognise theimportance of the Treaty/Tiriti from both Māori and Crown perspectives

You'll manage the full sales cycle - from territory planning and opportunity development through to deal closure. Success in this role will require a strong understanding of the public sector landscape, commercial acumen, and the ability to sell through multiple go-to-market channels, including direct engagement, cloud marketplaces, partners, and systems integrators. You'll collaborate with internal technical teams and a broad partner ecosystem to deliver solutions that align with government priorities and accelerate their move to hybrid cloud.
**What you will do:**
+ Lead Red Hat's strategic engagement across New Zealand central government agencies
+ Drive new business while expanding and deepening relationships with existing accounts
+ Build and execute account and territory plans aligned to Red Hat's growth strategy and government transformation priorities
+ Champion cloud as a key path to market, leveraging Red Hat solutions
+ Navigate diverse go-to-market motions including direct, partner-led, and integrator-driven sales
+ Build trusted relationships across a wide range of stakeholders, including technical teams and C-level decision-makers
+ Qualify and manage complex opportunities using the MEDDPICC sales methodology
+ Own the end-to-end sales process, including forecasting, pricing, negotiation, and contract execution
+ Partner with solution architects, technical account managers, and customer success to ensure long-term value delivery
**What you will bring:**
+ 10+ years of enterprise B2B sales experience, ideally in software, cloud, or IT services
+ A track record of success in both hunting new opportunities and growing existing customer relationships
+ Experience selling into government or complex regulated industries
+ Knowledge of public sector procurement processes and government buying cycle
+ Proven ability to work across various GTM paths - cloud marketplaces, direct, partner-led, and SI-led
+ Strong qualification discipline using MEDDPICC or similar methodologies
+ Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
+ Familiarity with Linux, open source, or Red Hat technologies is a strong plus

As AWS rapidly grows its public sector business in ANZ, we are looking for a Country Manager to focus on the public sector market to build, shape, and grow this strategic segment. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-growing organization, bringing innovation and driving the adoption of cloud computing across government agencies, education institutions, healthcare organizations, and non-profit entities.
The AWS Public Sector Country Manager will have the opportunity to influence and deliver on a strategy to build mindshare and broad use of Amazon's cloud services across Federal, State, and Local Government agencies, as well as education and healthcare institutions. You will serve as a market-focused and customer-obsessed senior leader, responsible for driving the overall organization of public sector account managers, solution architects, and partner development managers, while partnering effectively with the wider AWS teams in ANZ and APJ.
As the strategic arrowhead of the public sector organization, this role will help set an overall market roadmap and work with other AWS managers to develop opportunity pipelines in key government departments and regulated industries. It will involve evangelizing cloud computing in the public sector, driving growth and user adoption, and engaging at the Secretary/Agency Head/CIO level as well as with government technology leaders and architects.
The Country Manager will also be responsible for working with the AWS Public Policy team to help shape emerging public policies around the use of cloud computing in government, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and working with the AWS partner team to develop a robust public sector partner ecosystem. This role requires deep understanding of government procurement processes, security requirements, and the unique challenges and opportunities within the public sector landscape.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead and execute the overall AWS business strategy in New Zealand, developing and implementing comprehensive country plans across short, medium, and long-term horizons.
- Drive go-to-market strategies by coordinating marketing, solutions, product, and engineering teams to deliver compelling propositions across all customer segments.
- As a key member of the ANZ Leadership Team, you will define market growth strategies while serving as AWS's senior leader in New Zealand.
- Build and maintain C-level relationships across strategic accounts, acting as a trusted advisor to influence direction and drive customer success through AWS adoption.
- Work collaboratively with AWS sales teams and partners to develop pipeline and targeted campaigns.
- Understand and translate complex customer requirements to deliver solutions that address New Zealand's specific market needs and challenges.
- Lead public relations and community engagement activities to enhance AWS's presence in New Zealand, including speaking at industry events and engaging with local media.

Basic Qualifications
- 12+ years of technology related sales, business development or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of sales management experience
- Experience in management of large, complex enterprise accounts or equivalent
- Experience working with and presenting to C-level executives, IT, and lines of businesses across organizations or equivalent
