Our well-established motel is looking for a motivated and customer-focused Assistant Manager to join our team! As the Assistant Manager, you'll work closely with the Motel Manager to ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the property. Your role will include supervising staff, maintaining high guest service standards, and handling administrative tasks. You ’ll be a hands-on leader who leads by example and ensures our guests feel welcome and well taken care of.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in overseeing daily operations of the motel
- Supervise front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance teams
- Train, coach, and schedule staff
- Handle guest complaints and special requests
- Monitor room availability, occupancy rates, and pricing
- Manage inventory and supplies
- Ensure compliance with safety and cleanliness standards
- Support in budgeting and expense control
- Report to and collaborate with the Motel Manager regularly
Requirements:
- Prior experience in hospitality, front desk, business management, or customer service (management experience is a plus) for at least 3 years
- A relevant qualification at NZQF level 5 or higher
- Available to work on weekends and public holidays when required
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure
- Familiarity with booking systems and basic computer skills
- Flexible schedule, including availability on weekends and holidays
- High school diploma or equivalent (Hospitality or Business degree preferred)
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic

**How You'll Shine**
As the Front Office Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the resort. This position interacts with owners and guests, all resort departments, the community and the corporate office as necessary. You will also be responsible for the following:
+ Motivate and inspire the front office team
+ Direct and promote a good working relationship between the various resort departments encouraging team work
+ Lead the recruitment, hiring and training of all staff, to assure adequate staffing levels at all times, within the budget guidelines
+ Assist the Resort Manager with the planning, implementing and monitoring of policy and procedure
**What You'll Bring**
To be considered for this great opportunity it is essential that you have the following skills and attributes:
+ **At least 3 years relevant work experien** **ce (** **ANZSCO Skill Level 2)** **or; a relevant qualification or above of the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF)**
+ **Fluency in English (written and verbal)**
+ Previous supervisory experience is beneficial for Front Office Manager position (either as a Team Leader, Shift Supervisor or Duty Manager)
+ Knowledge of hotel property management systems, Opera preferred
+ Events experience highly regarded
+ Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and active listening
+ Positive attitude, vibrant and passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and exceeding expectations
+ Strong negotiation and problem solving skills
+ Immaculate presentation and grooming standards
+ Ability to work a flexible roster, including weekends and school and public holiday periods
+ The capability to work in a fast-paced environment both as part of a team and autonomously
