Job Details:

Location: Rotorua, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand

Hours of work: Minimum of 30 hours per week, permanent full-time position
Pay rate: $26.00 – $32.00 per hour (depending on skills and experience)

Key Responsibilities 

  • Prepare, cook, and present a wide range of dishes to meet menu requirements and customer expectations.

  • Develop and plan menus, including seasonal or special menus, ensuring variety, creativity, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Estimate food and labour costs and manage stock levels by ordering and monitoring supplies.

  • Supervise and coordinate kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow during service.

  • Maintain high standards of food quality, portion control, consistency, and presentation across all dishes.

  • Implement and monitor strict compliance with food hygiene, safety, and storage standards in accordance with New Zealand food control plans.

  • Train, mentor, and supervise junior kitchen staff, providing guidance to support their development.

  • Monitor and control waste, ensuring efficient use of ingredients to meet profitability and sustainability goals.

  • Work collaboratively with management to maintain customer satisfaction and contribute to continuous improvement of kitchen operations.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Full training will be provided.

  • Any relevant industry experience will be considered beneficial but is not mandatory.

  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work in a team are essential.

  • Good communication and reliability are expected.
