**How you'll make a difference**
Our Auckland Water team are looking for a highly experienced and forward-thinking Principal Water Engineer /Water Design Specialist to lead the design and delivery of complex pressurised water distribution systems (Auckland location is preferred but Wellington-based candidates will be considered). In this role you will provide technical leadership across all stages of project development-from early design phases (50%) through to detailed design (90%) and Issued for Construction (IFC) packages. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of water infrastructure, mentor multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to sustainable resource management through innovative engineering solutions.
+ Oversee and guide the preparation of detailed engineering designs, calculations, and hydraulic models, ensuring optimal system performance and efficiency alongside conducting and supervising site visits and assessments, offering expert technical support during construction phases.

**Job Description**
At AECOM, we're proud to deliver some of New Zealand's most complex and high-profile infrastructure projects. We are looking for an accomplished Principal Civil Engineer ideally with proven experience in aviation projects and construction monitoring and design to join our dynamic and growing Transport team. (Experience in aviation projects is not essential, but is preferred.)
You will be largely site-based undertaking construction monitoring and responding to RFIs on major transport infrastructure projects, you will collaborate with the ANZ Transport Team on the delivery of large-scale initiatives, and contribute to aviation infrastructure developments in Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin, Christchurch, and Queenstown.

On the back of plenty of project wins and a solid forward workload, we are looking for a **Principal Civil Engineer** to join our growing and diverse water team in our Wellington or Petone office - both have a fantastic view and waterfront location!
This is an exciting opportunity to further your career as part of an international leader in infrastructure. You will join an established multi-disciplined team ad have the technical support of our extensive design resources based in New Zealand and across the world. You will be applying your technical knowledge, working alongside experienced and up & coming specialists around the country to deliver sustainable and commercially viable engineering solutions for our clients across New Zealand.
You will contribute to development of proposals for clients as well as developing business from a local client base. In addition, as a Principal Civil Engineer you will:
* Project Technical Lead on a variety of projects to ensure the team delivers on Project agreed outputs on budget, on time and to quality standards.
* Work closely and engage regularly with key clients, understanding their needs and problems they face, able to get in front of projects and influence outcomes for successful team outcomes.
* leadwork with team leads in ensuring the team's technical development is ongoing.
* Produce quality project outputs, ensuring scope changes are closely monitored and design work is adequately resourced, reviewed and programmed.
* Plan, programme, co-ordinate and write reports for specific projects.
* Prepare cost estimates for project design and construction.
* Prepare tender documents and specifications for projects.
**About you**
You will be an experienced Civil Engineer with a proven track record of successfully delivering stormwater, water and/or wastewater projects and working collaboratively with clients and colleagues across the country.
You'll be a confident communicator with an engineering tertiary qualification plus 10 or more years' experience, able to develop strong internal and external client relationships, carry out all aspects of project delivery and oversight of technical delivery, including client and stakeholder consultation and negotiation when required.
Your own self-management skills will be as important as your technical and project delivery ones. You will need to be able to prioritise workloads whilst maintaining strong and trusting working relationships with our clients' and colleague's both locally and across the broader Stantec business.

As part of our high performing Energy team, you will be actively involved in a highly motivated and innovative team of energy professionals across New Zealand as well as Australia.
