Job Description:As a Construction Paint Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our project planning and execution process. You will be responsible for accurately estimating the cost and quantity of paint required for various construction projects, ensuring our clients receive precise and competitive proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Evaluation: Assess project specifications, blueprints, and other relevant documents to understand the scope and requirements. Quantity Measurement: Accurately calculate the quantity of paint, primers, and other materials needed for each project based on surface area and other relevant factors. Cost Estimation: Develop detailed cost estimates, taking into account material costs, labor, equipment, and overhead expenses. Vendor Relations: Collaborate with suppliers to obtain competitive quotes for materials and negotiate favorable terms to ensure cost-effectiveness. Documentation: Prepare comprehensive and organized documentation of estimates, including breakdowns of costs, timelines, and project specifications. Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, construction teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and understanding of project requirements. Requirements Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred. Experience: Proven experience as a Construction Paint Estimator in the construction industry. Familiarity with painting techniques, materials, and industry standards. Technical Skills: Proficient in using estimating software and tools. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to convey complex technical information in a clear and concise manner. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus Detail-Oriented: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate and thorough estimates. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify potential challenges and propose effective solutions. The Top Energy Group operates throughout the Far North delivering geothermal electricity generation and electricity network operations. Our purpose is to provide affordable and sustainable energy to Far North consumers, which we will achieve by transforming the Top Energy Group into a technology-enabled energy company that generates and facilitates two-way energy flow between renewable energy generators and consumers.
We are seeking a strong team player who, as our new Network Design Estimator, will be responsible for developing detailed designs, costings, and fieldwork packages for customer-driven network extensions, privately funded reticulation, and Network maintenance and capital projects that meet Top Energy statutory compliance, internal procedure, and customer service level expectations.
This position will report to the Estimating Manager and will be based at our Kaitia or Kerikeri office.
Key areas of focus will be to:
- Review and confirm the scope of work and design for customers
- Conduct site inspections, surveys, mapping, and research as required
- Compile accurate job costings and field work packs for all types of work
- Liaise with Network and Contracting teams during work pack development
- Respond to requests for information and actively resolve any issues
- Ensure that all deliverables meet agreed technical and commercial performance objectives
To succeed in this role, you will have at least two years of technical experience within the electricity distribution industry, ideally with overhead and underground distribution system design and costing experience or a relevant tertiary qualification. The ability to produce, read, and understand diagrams using GIS software is essential, as well as experience with AutoCad or similar drafting software. An intermediate skill level in MS Office products is essential, and proficiency in SAP is preferred. You must hold a full current driver's Licence. A geographic knowledge of the Far North region would be an advantage.
