The Opportunity
We are looking for a new Senior Software Engineer to join our Perception Team. This team sits within our wider Software Engineering Capability group, and is primarily responsible for developing our Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) Perception Systems.
Software Engineers at Robotics Plus are involved in the development, implementation, refinement, and commercialisation of software for various projects, making sure all software developed aligns with our methodologies and standards, ensuring consistency and efficiency across various product lines. We ensure best practice security protocols are applied and continually reviewed to ensure safety and security.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will bring advanced technical knowledge and expertise in Software Engineering, along with the ability to coach and mentor more junior members of the team. Our Seniors can demonstrate leadership through technical workstreams and /or by managing discrete modules or pieces of work – we look for people who are competent to work on complex technical problems independently but enjoy working as part of a collaborative team.
Essential Skills and Experience
Software Engineering or Computer Science degree, or similar qualification.
7 + years professional experience.
Development and deployment workflows (CI, versioning, automated machine configuration/DevOps)
Software testing practices (Unit, System and Integration testing)
Experience working with Computer Vision with a team in a professional environment
High level of competency with computer vision related technologies -
OpenCV
Python and related CV libraries
Machine learning with neural networks
Algorithms
Virtualisation tools (Docker, VirtualBox, Vagrant)
Linux Development and Deployment Environment Experience
Desirable Skills and Experience
Cloud infrastructure and services (AWS, GCP, Cloudformation, Terraform, Packer)
Experience developing robotic vehicle related software
Robot Operating System (ROS)
Image Processing (e.g. OpenCV)
Project Management techniques such as Agile / Scrum
Able to create, upgrade and maintain software that Interface with hardware components SDKs.
Confident to learn new languages and technologies.
This is a full-time permanent role, based at our brand-new premises in Tauriko (Tauranga).

**What does a successful SDET Advisory do at Fiserv?**
We're looking for a seasoned Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our team in an Advisory capacity, driving quality at speed. In this role, you'll play a critical part in shaping our CI/CD pipelines, embedding test automation into every stage of the development lifecycle, and enabling rapid, reliable releases.
**What you will do:**
+ **Lead Strategic Automation & CI/CD Initiatives:** Provide expert guidance on scalable test automation frameworks and CI/CD best practices to enhance delivery speed and reliability.
+ **Champion Quality Standards:** Advocate for shift-left testing and continuous quality, ensuring automation is integrated early and maintained throughout.
+ **Inspire Innovation and Continuous Improvement** : Encourage bold, forward-thinking approaches that challenge the status quo, aiming to reduce manual effort and accelerate the product development lifecycle.
+ **Mentor and Empower SDET Talent:** Offer hands-on coaching and technical leadership to SDET team members, fostering a high-performing, growth-oriented environment.
+ **Oversee Test Planning & Quality Assurance:** Review and refine existing automation test suites, providing actionable feedback to improve test coverage, maintainability, and effectiveness.
**What you will need to have:**
+ Proven technical leadership, with a track record of coaching and mentoring SDETs and Developers.
+ Hands-on expertise with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or similar), performance testing, and automation frameworks (Playwright, Selenium).
+ Strong background in Agile/Scrum with exploratory testing techniques.
+ Proficiency with tools like Charles Proxy, Fiddler, Postman, and SoapUI.
+ Familiarity in native iOS/Android development.
+ Deep understanding of Pact Contract Testing.
+ Experience in Jira, or similar backlog and defect management tools
+ A passion for knowledge sharing-leading 'lunch and learn' sessions or technical deep dives to uplift team capability and promote best practices.
