The Opportunity:
Our client is a registered charity who provides counselling and support to the South Auckland community. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader in mental health or conselling to step in this this leadership role.
In this role you have the opportunity to work in a truly supportive multi-cultural environment with mentoring available to you. The team are committed to the personal and professional development of kaimahi and offer a range of training and project opportunities to extend your skills and enrich your experience. You will have access to fortnightly external supervision sessions and their EAP Provider for online well-being resources and confidential additional support if needed. In addition to usual leave entitlements you will have up to 5 days training leave per year available with your own training budget.
About the position:
In this permanent full time role, as well as providing team leadership you will also support a client case load of your own. You will receive the support needed to succeed in this position from our Clinical Manager, your clinical team lead peers and the broader leadership team.
Other duties may at times include supporting the Clinical Manager with leadership tasks such as recruitment, monitoring of at-risk clients, client allocations, clinical lead, data analysis and reporting.
Requirements for the role:
In addition to experience within an NGO, Health and Care Services or Social Services environment, the following requirements will set you up for success:
- A full professional registration is a requirement
- A clinical qualification and post-graduate qualification in Counselling, Psychology, or Psychotherapy
- Well experienced in a leadership role with many years of counselling experience
- Relevant work experience
- Being ACC registered is preferable
- Leadership skills/experience
- NZ citizenship or permanent residency

Team Leader:
We are looking for an individual that is a natural leader. Someone with a 'hands on' approach as you will be required to work alongside your team delivering projects. Someone who is proactive & confident in making the right decisions to get the project completed safely & on time. Someone who is able to comfortably able to delegate tasks to their peers/subcontractors on site. Great communication is important; The ability to express oneself in a professional yet personable manner while representing the business with integrity is key to success.
What you will need to succeed:
- A PROVEN track record leading a team (a certificate in supervising workers will help)
