We have an exciting opportunity for a versatile and skilled civil construction Leading Hand / Carpenter to join our hard-working team.
We are seeking a Leading Hand/Carpenter to join our hard-working team who is experienced in concrete and formwork specialist with proven skills in barrier works, setting out from survey profiles, and coordinating with heavy plant operators. The role involves measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling materials, interpreting drawings and specifications, and ensuring high-quality installations.
To be successful in this position you will have the following:

Minimum of 3 years of carpentry experience
-
High level of experience working with concrete and constructing formwork
-
Experience with establishing forms and profiling from survey set outs
-
Proven experience in barrier works
-
Experience measuring, cutting and shaping materials, assembling and fastening components using nails and other securing methods
-
Experience reviewing drawings and specifications to identity required materials, determine dimensions and plan installation procedures
-
Proven experience coordinating jobs with heavy plant operators to install materials
-
Exceptional work ethic and meticulous attention to detail
-
Valid Working at Heights qualification with evidence of jobs completed working at height
-
Full Class 1 driver licence

Strong commitment to Health and Safety and Quality Assurance

About the Role
You’ll be working full-time, leading a team on a variety of sites across the North Island. This is a practical, hands-on role that involves both supervision and physical labour. The role will require extended periods of travel (2-3 week blocks) outside Auckland from time to time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Constructing timber, palisade, and concrete retaining walls
- Re-levelling, re-piling, and foundation strengthening
- Reading plans, marking out sites, and estimating materials
- Operating drills, piling gear, and other machinery
- Leading small on-site teams and overseeing daily workflow
- Procuring materials and ensuring site safety
What We’re Looking For
We’re after someone with solid on-the-tools experience and leadership ability.
You should have:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in retaining/foundation work
- Strong attention to detail and site safety
- Confidence reading plans and supervising crews
- Great communication and time management skills
- A full driver’s licence with WTR endorsements
- LBP (Foundations) preferred but not required
- Willingness to travel and stay away for jobs
