A typical week could see you planning and undertaking site investigations, carrying out geotechnical assessments, preparing and analysing ground models, delivering detailed technical engineering geological reports and overseeing the construction of geotechnical structures. You'll assist the team with providing advice to clients and input to successful project solutions.
Day to day tasks would involve:
* Scope, plan, programme, and co-ordinate ground investigations to obtain geological information to inform design and construction of projects.
* Analyse soil, rock, groundwater, and other geologic data to determine geotechnical risks, ground behaviour, and their impact on engineering projects.
* Prepare geological maps, cross-sections, and reports for project planning and design.
* Advise on the suitability of sites for various construction projects based on geological findings.
* Develop risk assessments related to geological and natural hazards like landslides, earthquakes, erosion, and subsidence.
* Monitor and interpret data from field investigations and laboratory tests.
* Collaborate with engineers and planners to incorporate geological data into project designs.
* Maintain communication and develop ongoing contacts with clients as required.
* Develop and maintain constructive relationships with local contractors, and team members.
* Support younger members of the team.

Your duties will include:

* Provide technical support to the design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions, which add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.
* Supporting operating partners to lead, review, and approve designs for existing co-location (colo) data center upgrades which improve availability/efficiency.
* Interface with operating partners, data center design engineering team, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered by operating partners.
* Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
* Initiate and lead engineering site audits within leased or colo data centers. Produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediation's.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers.
- 6+ cumulative years of experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation, oil / gas facilities. (Experienced Engineer)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
- Ability to carry design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment/mass production
- Basic understanding of both mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers (Including but not limited to: uninterruptible power sources , diesel generators, electrical switch-gear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic/static transfer switches, chillers (air-cooled and water-cooled), pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAHs, air economizers, etc.)
- Have fluent knowledge of continuous operating redundant electrical systems, cooling systems, air flow containment systems and building management systems. We're looking for eight (8) equally passionate high achievers to join our 10-week Summer intern program! We have exciting opportunities and projects to contribute to in the software, electrical, computer vision, artificial intelligence, and machine learning fields.
Based in Albany, Auckland, our high-performing team simultaneously enjoys the perks of a large global company, and a small NZ tech company. We pride ourselves on our amazing team culture, and are lucky to have free snacks, a great coffee machine, and weekly social events.
**JOB DUTIES:**
As interns you will get to experience what it takes to bring an idea from concept to product. You will be working side-by-side with experienced engineers to deliver quality technology and data solutions to aid in the delivery of leading edge video, AI and imaging products. This is a unique chance to drive Teknique and Resideo to accomplish their mission to "Protect What Matters Most" while bringing innovation to the way we live.
We are looking for up to 8 interns this Summer. We have a variety of innovation projects which include the following:
+ Developing, assessing and training cutting-edge, edge-based, video, artificial intelligence models for home safety and security applications
+ Employing image engineering robotics to automate the image tuning process for future video products
+ Developing a proof-of-concept wireless chime (hardware and firmware) to pair with existing video doorbell products
**To be eligible for this placement, please see the following requirements.**
**YOU MUST:**
+ Be studying, or have recently completed, an undergraduate or postgraduate degree or qualification at NZQA level 6-10. If the study has been completed, the closing date of your final semester should be less than 12 months ago
+ Be studying, or have studied, science, technology, engineering, design or business at a New Zealand tertiary education institute
+ Be legally permitted to work in New Zealand
+ Not have been previously employed at the business in either a full-time or part-time permanent position (temporary short-term employment is permitted)
